IMC plans points deduction to curb hooliganism in the NPFL

As part of reforms to allow for the smooth organization of Nigeria’s top flight football league, the Interim Management Committee – IMC is considering point deduction to curb Hooliganism in the NPFL.

This revelation was made by the IMC Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye via a conversation with KENNIS FM Sports Salsa.

” Clubs found wanting with crowd violence will not be asked to pay any fine as it was the normal norm,” Elegbeleye said of the possibility of point deduction for violence at match venues.

” We shall deduct from the points of the erring team and you will forfeit the match in question. You will see that all the clubs would ensure law and order is maintained because they don’t want to lose points. ” Elegbeleye said.

In a related development, the NPFL is set for January commencement following draws made in Abuja today Wednesday December 28, 2022.

The 20 participating clubs have been split in two groups for an abridged league season, the likes of Plateau United, Remo Stars, Akwa United, Enyimba geting a tough 2022/2023 NPFL draw in Group A.
