Mesut Ozil becomes the 5th Arsenal player to score Champions League Hattrick – Who are the others?

Mesut Ozil continues his impressive run of form with his first ever career hattrick and the fifth by any Arsenal player in the Champions League when he scored three past Ludogorets yesterday.

Here are the Arsenal players to have scored three on a Champions League night.

1. Thierry Henry v Roma

Arsenal’s all time highest goal scorer scored his club’s first ever hattrick when he scored three past Roma in Arsenal’s 3-1 2nd Group stage win over the Italian side in 2002-03.

He scored with either foot before hammering home his third from a free kick.

2. Nicklas Bendtner v Porto

Bendtner played a starring role as Arsenal trashed the Portuguese Champions in 2009-2010 in the second round 5-0.

3. Danny Welbeck v Galatasary

Manchester United’s trainee turned up for Arsenal in their Group D clash in 2014-15 season against the Turkish giants , Galatasary. Danny Welbeck scored three goals as the London club ran away with a 4-1 victory on the night.

4. Olivier Giroud v Olympiacos

Last season Arsenal were faced with a difficult task of beating the Greek giants in front of their home fans and they didn’t disappoint the French striker was the Gunners hero on the night scoring all the three goals that gave the London based club the desired victory and a passage to the next round.

5. Mesut Ozil v Ludogorets

Would rather assist than score a goal even if he founds himself in a scoring position but this season Mesut Ozil is not just raking in the assists but also putting himself on the scorers chat.

The German celebrated his birthday with a goal against Swansea over the weekend and yesterday he scored three goals as his side destroyed Ludogorets.
