Japanese Grand Prix: Verstappen inspires Red Bull to Constructors’ Championship title

Dutch driver picks up 13th win in 16 races this season

Max Verstappen returned to winning ways at the Japanese Grand Prix as he helped Red Bull Racing win a second consecutive Constructors’ Title in the 2023 Formula One season.

Verstappen claimed the Pole position in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka, having lost out on the Singapore Grand Prix last time out to Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

The Red Bull Racing driver and reigning champion led the race from start to finish as he cruised to victory in Suzuka. Teammate Sergio Perez did not finish the race after he was asked to retire his car after only 15 laps. Australian rookie Oscar Piastri had an excellent race and finished in the final podium position, earning his first podium finish in Formula One.

McLaren driver Lando Norris was second in the Japanese Grand Prix, with fellow McLaren driver Piastri coming third in the race. Charles Leclerc finished in fourth place, Lewis Hamilton was fifth and Carlos Sainz finished in sixth place. Mercedes’ George Russell was seventh and Fernando Alonso finished in eighth. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly were the final two point scorers in the race in Suzuka.

Verstappen won his 13th race of the season and will seal a third consecutive title if he wins the Qatar Grand Prix next month.
