Jordan Smith Wins 1 Point Slam
Jordan Smith wins the 1 Point Slam. The 1 Point Slam is an Australian Open exhibition where every match is decided by one single point. There are no games, no sets, and no chance to recover if you mess up. One rally, and you’re either through or out.
Before the point is played, the players use rock–paper–scissors to decide who serves or returns. Professionals are allowed only one serve, while amateurs get two serves, which is meant to level things out slightly. Once the ball is in play, that’s it; whoever wins the point wins the match.
The most recent edition had a 64-player draw and included a mix of top ATP and WTA players alongside amateur qualifiers. Big names like Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Iga Swiatek, and Amanda Anisimova all participated.
This year, the chaos ended with Jordan Smith winning the tournament. The local amateur beat several established professionals along the way and took the A$1 million prize.
That’s the whole idea of the event. It’s not meant to be fair, or technical, or traditional. It’s just a pressure test, and sometimes, the person with the least to lose passes it best.
