Karim Adeyemi on the losing side as Real Madrid win 15th Champions League title

Nigerian-born forward Karim Adeyemi found himself on the losing side as Borussia Dortmund suffered a painful 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday night.

Facing off against then 14-time Champions League winners at Wembley Stadium, Karim Adeymi and Borussia Dortmund entered the match as underdogs, although they had ousted French giants, PSG in the semifinals.

Coach Edin Terzic deployed Adeyemi on the left side of Dortmund’s attack, as per usual. Dortmund started the game with high intensity, pressing Real Madrid and restricting their space. Vinicius Junior, in particular, found it challenging to create chances against Julian Ryerson’s solid defensive display.

Adeyemi had a big chance in the 21st minute, finding himself one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois. However, his decision to dribble past the goalkeeper backfired, as he was forced wide and his subsequent shot was blocked by Dani Carvajal. Despite this setback, Adeyemi continued to press, forcing a save from Courtois just seven minutes later.

Dortmund dominated much of the first half and early second half, but their efforts were undone in the 74th minute when Carvajal headed in a goal to put Real Madrid ahead 1-0.

In the 83rd minute, Vinicius capitalized on a mistake in Dortmund’s defense to score again, sealing the victory for Real Madrid. Adeyemi was substituted off for Marco Reus in the 72nd minute.

By the time final whistle was blown, it left Real Madrid claiming a record-extending 15th Champions League title, leaving Adeyemi and Borussia Dortmund disappointed.
