Kudus the HERO as Spurs beat stubborn Leeds

Mohammed Kudus scored one goal and helped set up another as Tottenham beat Leeds United at Elland Road for the first time in over a year.
Leeds hadn’t lost at home since early September 2024, when they lost to Burnley in the Championship.
But Kudus was the star on a rainy day in Leeds, and Spurs kept their lead to win after drawing two games in the last four days.
Mathys Tel scored his first goal of the season. He ran onto a pass from Kudus and hit a great shot from 20 yards. The ball bounced off Pascal Struijk and went past Leeds’ keeper Karl Darlow.
Leeds then equalised when Dominic Calvert-Lewin held off two defenders and passed to Brenden Aaronson. Aaronson’s shot was saved by Tottenham’s keeper Guglielmo Vicario but the ball fell to Noah Okafor, who scored the rebound.
As the rain got heavier, Kudus scored again for Spurs. He moved across the edge of the box and fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Tottenham are now second in the league, one point behind Liverpool before other matches are played this weekend.
Elland Road had been a tough place for teams to win this year. Leeds had won once and drawn twice there since coming back to the Premier League.
Leeds’ manager Daniel Farke used the same team as in the last four games. Leeds started well, with Joe Rodon hitting the post with a header.
But Leeds have struggled to score goals recently. Okafor is the only player with more than one league goal this season. New signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin has only scored once, two weeks ago against Wolves.
Sean Longstaff has been a good signing but missed a chance with a powerful shot.
Farke brought on two forwards in the last 10 minutes to try to score an equaliser. Substitute Joel Piroe nearly scored in injury time but Vicario made a great save. Farke looked very disappointed. Later, Struijk missed a chance with a header.
Leeds showed they have a positive attitude and believe they can get results. This will help them this season as they try to stay in the Premier League and not drop back down to the Championship.
