Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has admitted that Christian Pulisic deserves to be praised for his role as the Blues secured an important 1-0 win against Ajax in a Champions League Group H game on Wednesday.
The American who has found himself on the substitute bench and far behind in pecking order has been impactful for Chelsea and his boss has singled him out for praise.
Just as he did coming off the bench to set up Marcos Alonso goal in Chelsea 1-0 win against Newcastle in a league game, Christian Pulisic again came of the bench to assist the only goal against Ajax.
“You have to give Christian huge credit. I have got belief in the players. It is tough to leave people.
“The performance tonight and the last couple off the bench might show that. I didn’t listen to the outside talk. I understood the quality of Christian, he is just 21.
“I have options. Christian wants to know what is going on always. I have stayed calm with it. He wants to do well. Training like he has makes me very happy.”
Christian Pulisic will be hoping to get an opportunity to start the game as Chelsea travel to Burnley this weekend.
