LeBron James equals NBA record, receives 19th All-Star selection
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant to lead East team in ASG
LeBron James received his 19th All-Star Game selection, becoming only the second player in NBA history after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to be selected as an All-Star 19 times. James also captains a side for the sixth consecutive year in the All-Star Game. The 38-year-old is hunting for the NBA’s all-time scoring record held by Abdul-Jabbar and is averaging 29.9 PPG, 8.5 RPG and 7.0 APG this season.
LeBron James will be joined by Zion Williamson, Steph Curry, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic in the West team as starters. Williamson is receiving his second All-star selection and averaging 26.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 4.6 APG this season. Reigning NBA MVP Jokic is going to be in his fifth All-star game. The Serbian is averaging 25.1 PPG, 11.0 RPG and 9.9 APG this season. Doncic is in his fourth All-star game and is averaging 33.8 PPG, 9.1 RPG and 8.6 APG. Steph Curry is in his ninth All-star game and is averaging 29.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG and 6.2 APG this season.
The East team will be captained by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is making his seventh All-star appearance. The Greek Freak is averaging 31. 0 PPG, 12.0 RPG and 5.3 APG this season. He will be joined by Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum as starters in the game.
Durant is averaging 29.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG and 5.3 APG for the Brooklyn Nets this season. He received his 13th All-star Game selection. Irving is making his 8th All-star appearance and is averaging 26.8 PPG, 5.1 RPG and 5.2 APG this season with the Nets. Mitchell is making his fourth All-star appearance and is averaging 28.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG and 4.8 APG in the NBA this season. Jayson Tatum is making his fourth All-star appearance and is averaging 31.0 PPG, 8.6 RPG and 4.4 APG this season with the Boston Celtics.
The 2023 All-star game will take place in Utah on February 19th and both captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will select their teams just before the game.
