Lookman Back in Training as He Looks to Rebuild Future at Atalanta

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has returned to full training with Atalanta after the September international break, signalling a fresh start following a turbulent summer.
The 27-year-old had asked to leave the Bergamo club, with Inter Milan strongly interested in signing him. However, the move collapsed after both clubs failed to reach an agreement. Lookman was later accused of missing training sessions as he tried to force the transfer, leading to questions about his relationship with the club.
Despite the setback, former Nigeria striker Mohammed Gambo has urged Lookman to remain professional and focus on the season ahead. Speaking to Footy-Africa, Gambo said: “It was disappointing that he did not get his move to Inter Milan, but now he must concentrate on the task ahead. Training with the first team again is a good sign, and if he performs well, there will be more interest in him by January.”
Lookman’s recent struggles—including being left out of the squad by coach Ivan Juric against Lecce and missing a penalty in Europe—have raised doubts about his long-term future at Atalanta. Still, his return to training provides an opportunity to rebuild trust and form.
With the Serie A season still in its early stages, the Nigerian international now has the chance to prove himself again, restore confidence, and possibly attract fresh interest from top European clubs when the January transfer window opens.
