Manchester United Eye Leicester City Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi
Manchester United are considering a summer move for Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi, as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
Ndidi, who currently plays for Leicester City, is seen as an affordable and experienced option by the Red Devils. The 28-year-old is available for around £9 million after helping the Foxes win promotion back to the Premier League.
Ndidi’s Experience Makes Him a Target
With over 300 appearances for Leicester, Ndidi has proven himself in English football. He has scored 18 goals, registered 22 assists, and won both the FA Cup and EFL Championship with the club.
According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, United are monitoring Ndidi’s situation closely. With Casemiro struggling due to age and Kobbie Mainoo still learning the ropes, Ndidi could provide much-needed balance and experience in the middle of the park.
Premier League and European Interest
United are not the only club interested. Atletico Madrid and Everton are also reportedly eyeing the Nigerian international, who previously played for KRC Genk in Belgium.
Former United striker and current Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has also spoken highly of Ndidi, praising his leadership and all-round performance during a match at Old Trafford.
“You’ve seen the way he lifted the team on and off the ball. His leadership was outstanding,” Van Nistelrooy said.
A Golden Opportunity for Ndidi
Ndidi will turn 29 when the winter transfer window opens, and a move to Manchester United would be a major step in his career. It would also make him only the second Nigerian to play for the club, after Odion Ighalo.
The versatile midfielder can play both in defence and midfield, and his experience in the Premier League makes him an ideal signing. For manager Ruben Amorim, it would be a smart addition at a low cost.
Why This Move Makes Sense
United need reinforcements after a poor campaign in which they finished 15th. Strengthening midfield is a key priority, alongside signing a reliable striker and a wide player.
Ndidi’s price and wage demands make the deal very attractive, especially compared to last summer’s €60 million signing of Manuel Ugarte. With Ndidi, United would get a proven Premier League player for a fraction of the cost.
If the deal goes through, Ndidi could become a vital part of United’s revival under Amorim, bringing energy, experience, and stability to their midfield.
