‘ Manchester United is going in the right direction ‘ – Erik Ten Hag
Despite watching his team stutter in a 3-3 draw vs Galatasaray to slip to bottom place in their Champions League group, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag says the team is going in the right direction.
Manchester United led 0-2 early in the game through Alesandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes but Hakim Ziyech scored from two free-kicks to level scores.
Scott Mactominay restored United’s lead in the second half but Kerem Akturkoglu drew the hosts level again in the 71st minute, when he fired a fierce shot into the back of the net.
It finished 3-3 in Turkey, a result that leaves the Red Devil’s bottom of group C and on the brink of elimination with one matchday to go.
” I am responsible for this. This is a project. We are going forward and making improvements so that’s very hopeful,” United manager Erik Ten Hag was quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano after Wednesday’s game.
” We are going in the right direction so I know where we have to go and the steps we take will make us successful in the long term.
“I keep thinking that this team is good. All the players in squad are good and deserve the best to play for Man United because they are brilliant players. And that counts for the whole squad.”
Ten Hag will hope for revival when the Red Devils travel to St.James’ Park to face Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend.
United have suffered back-to-back defeats to Eddie Howe’s men and will hope it ends on a positive note this time around.
Manchester United will conclude their UEFA Champions League campaign vs Bayern Munich hoping to secure maximum points and pray other results go in their favour to reach the knockout round.
