Messi’s Sister injured in Car Crash, Wedding delayed

The Messi family has confirmed that Lionel Messi’s sister, Maria Sol Messi, is recovering after a serious traffic accident. The crash left her with multiple fractures and burn injuries and forced her to postpone her upcoming wedding.

Argentinian TV journalist Ángel de Brito said Maria Sol’s mother, Celia Cuccittini, confirmed her daughter is “out of danger.” However, she faces a long rehabilitation period. “She’s okay, she’s out of danger, but she’s going to have to suspend it,” de Brito said, referring to the wedding planned for January 3 in Rosario, Argentina.

She was due to marry Julian “Tuli” Arellano, a member of Inter Miami’s under 19 coaching staff. The couple have known each other since growing up in Rosario. The wedding was expected to be a major family event, but it has now been postponed so she can focus on her recovery.

The accident happened after Maria Sol lost control of her vehicle and hit a wall. Her mother told de Brito that she fainted before the impact. “I asked her mum and she told me it’s true, but that Maria Sol is okay. The wedding is going to be put back,” he said.

While her brother Lionel Messi has not issued a public statement, sources close to the family say he has been in contact and focused on Maria Sol’s recovery. The family has previously shown a close bond, with Lionel often returning to Rosario to be with them and celebrating major events together.
