MFM FC v Rivers United: Olukoya Boys out to make it 7 from 7

By: Timothy Dehinbo

Confident MFM FC will be out to make it 7 from 7 when they host Rivers United today at the Agege Township Stadium in the Nigeria Professional Football League rescheduled matchday 8.

MFM FC are the team with the best home record so far this season in the League winning all their games in front of their fans, but standing in their way of making it seven wins in seven games after scoring 13 goals and conceding just two goals in the previous six played is Rivers United.

MFM FC beat League leaders, Plateau United on Sunday to close the gap between them to just 1 point, a brace from the NPFL top scorer, Stephen Odey gave MFM the valuable 3 points.

After the match, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of MFM said: “We have a good team and we fought to the last to earn maximum points but Plateau United showed they are a good team with a good coach and they deserve to be where they are.”

He however assured that MFM FC remain solid and determined to make their mark this season.
“MFM has only two options this season. To win the league title or to get a ticket to the continent at the end of the season. We are a good team.”

For Rivers United, they were engaged in the continent at the weekend losing scandalously to Al Merreikh of Sudan, which saw them forfeited a 3 nil advantage that they had in the first leg, and made them crash out of the CAF Champions League dropping to the Caf Confederations cup, where they will play Rayo Sports in the Play-Offs.

MFM can be confident ahead of this game, because they are yet to drop a single point at home this season, winning all home games this season. A win for them on Wednesday would see then move to the top of the table.

Rivers United are 17th on the table and will need to put the CAF champions League disappointments behind them and start to get points in the League.

A win here is certain for the Olukoya boys with their current form.

PREDICTION: MFM FC 3-1 RIVERS UNITED
