Mikel Obi captains as Middlesbrough snap losing streak to re-ignite playoffs hopes

Middlesbrough have ended their losing streak with a 2-0 win against relegation threatened Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium in a championship game on Tuesday.

After their terrible run of games that saw Boro suffered 6 consecutive defeats for the first time since 2000 and also saw Mikel Obi involved in six straight losses for the first time in his career; team returned to winning ways.

Two first half goals from Ashley Fletcher settled the clash on Tuesday but Tony Pulis decision to hand the captain arm band to John Mikel Obi played a key role on Tuesday result.

Mikel Obi’s leadership, coordination and dishing out of orders in addition to his usual top contribution on the pitch helped Middlesbrough end their losing streak and reignited their title hopes.

With just four games to go Middlesbrough are now one point adrift of the playoffs zone.
