Millwall goalkeeper Matija Sarkic has passed away at the age of 26. Sarkic became ill while on international duty with Montenegro.
The incident occurred in Budva, a coastal town in Montenegro, where Sarkic was staying with friends at an apartment. Reports indicate that he fell ill on Saturday morning.
Emergency services responded swiftly, and Sarkic was transported by ambulance from the scene. Tragically, he passed away at approximately 6:30 am local time.
Local authorities have initiated an investigation into Sarkic’s death, although initial indications suggest that it may have been due to natural causes.
