Morocco secures hosting rights for Africa Clubs Association Headquarters

Morocco has been selected to host the headquarters of the newly-formed Africa Clubs Association (ACA). After a competitive bidding process involving South Africa, Morocco, and Algeria, Morocco emerged as the unanimous choice during an ACA board meeting held last Friday.

According to a report by Nigerian journalist, Mfon Patrick on Monday, January 20, 2025, both Morocco and Algeria had invited ACA officials to inspect their facilities, but it was Morocco’s superior infrastructure and its role in advancing football on the continent that ultimately swayed the decision. Paul Bassey, ACA Vice President from Nigeria, explained, “After careful evaluation of all bids, Morocco’s infrastructure and vision for the future of African football made them the ideal choice to host our headquarters for the next 50 years.”

The ACA headquarters will be situated in Rabat, close to the offices of both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA. This strategic location will enhance collaboration and contribute to the continent’s football growth, as Morocco continues to play a central role in global football development.

Following the announcement, the Africa Clubs Association – ACA sent a formal congratulatory letter to Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Moroccan Football Federation. This weekend, ACA board members will travel to Morocco to sign a memorandum of understanding and finalize the agreement. Their visit coincides with the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place on January 27 in Rabat, providing an opportunity for ACA executives to engage in discussions with FIFA, CAF, and national association representatives present at the event.
