NFF reveals what Tosin Adarabioyo must do if he wants to play for Nigeria
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stated that Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo must actively express interest in playing for the Super Eagles before being considered for selection.
The 27-year-old centre-back has previously turned down opportunities to represent Nigeria, despite efforts made by the NFF.
Adarabioyo was approached by the NFF in the past, with hopes that he would commit to playing for the Nigerian national team. However, he declined their request.
In addition, former Super Eagles head coach, José Peseiro, made an attempt to bring Adarabioyo into the squad last year. The coach even travelled to the United Kingdom to meet with him, but the player chose not to join the team at that time.
Recent reports now suggest that Adarabioyo has shown renewed interest in representing Nigeria. However, the NFF has made it clear that the defender needs to take official steps if he truly wants to make the switch and be considered for future call-ups.
An NFF source told ESPN, “José Peseiro travelled to meet with him in the UK last year to speak about playing for Nigeria, but he told the coach at that time that he was not ready. If he wants to make the switch now, he knows what to do.”
Adarabioyo, who is currently playing for Chelsea, will need to formally declare his interest to the NFF if he wishes to be part of the Super Eagles in the future.
