NLO: Sir Monty FC, nine others battle for promotion playoff ticket in Calabar

The Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) is set to kick off its 2023/2024 season at the Calabar Center on Saturday April 20, 2024, with ten teams vying for glory and a chance at promotion playoffs. SportsRation correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan is on the ground in Calabar, bringing live coverage of the action.

Among the contenders is Sir Monty FC, a team boasting a young and talented squad recruited from the Blessed Stars Football Academy in Uyo. Arriving in Calabar on Friday, April 19, 2024, Sir Monty FC is poised to make their mark in the competition.

Joining Sir Monty FC at the Calabar Center are Ibom Youths FC, Nordic Football Academy, Fresh Talent FC, Palm Syrup FC, FC ONA Pal, Psports Academy, Krane FC, Vandrezzer Feeders, Hope of Glory FC, and Essien Ayi FC.

The opening matches on April 20 promise excitement and fierce competition. Hope of Glory FC will kickstart proceedings as they face Nordic Football Academy at 8 am at the UJ Esuene Stadium. Following them, FC ONA Pal will take on Palm Syrup FC at 10 am, setting the stage for a clash between Sir Monty FC and Psports Academy at 12 noon.

In the afternoon fixtures, Ibom Youths FC will battle Krane FC at 2 pm, while Essien Ayi FC will challenge Vandrezzer Feeders in the final game of the day at 4 pm.

In an exclusive interview with SportsRation, Sir Monty FC’s General Manager, Mr. Moses Ukpong, expressed the team’s ambition and determination to secure the coveted promotion playoff spot. “We have assembled a talented and youthful squad who are hungry for success,” remarked Ukpong. “Every team here is eyeing the promotion playoffs, so we know there are no easy games. We will give our all on the pitch and hope that our efforts are rewarded with success.”

With the stage set and the teams eager to make their mark, the 2023/2024 NLO season promises thrilling football and intense battles as each team fights for their chance at glory.
