NNL Begins Stadium Inspections Ahead of 2025/2026 Season Kickoff

As part of preparations for the 2025/2026 football season, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has begun a nationwide inspection of stadiums to make sure all match venues meet required standards before the new campaign starts.
The league’s management has informed all 36 participating clubs to submit their preferred home grounds by October 13, 2025, ahead of the season kickoff on November 8, 2025. Clubs have also been placed on alert for the NNL inspection team’s visit, which will check if the facilities are suitable for league matches.
In addition, the NNL has directed clubs to complete their registration and club licensing processes by October 24, 2025, warning that only licensed clubs will be allowed to field players in the new season.
The Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Mr. Danlami Alanana, said the league will not approve any substandard stadiums for matches.
“We are strongly against poor pitches that affect the quality of play and endanger players,” Alanana said. “As a professional league, we expect clubs to provide good playing surfaces that promote quality football and protect the welfare of players.”
He also noted that the success of the league depends greatly on the standard of the venues, urging clubs to invest in maintenance and necessary upgrades.
The ongoing inspection exercise is part of the NNL’s efforts to raise the standard of football in the country and ensure the upcoming season runs smoothly, without the logistical and safety challenges faced in previous years.
