NNL Chairman Hails Abakaliki FC for Reaching Federation Cup Semi-Final
Chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL), George Aluo, has congratulated Abakaliki FC for making it to the semi-finals of the 2025 President Federation Cup.
Abakaliki FC secured their place in the last four after edging out Nasarawa United 5-4 on penalties.
The team will now face Ikorodu City in the semi-final of the competition.
Aluo praised the team’s impressive performance and said it highlights the strength of the second-tier league.
“I must commend Abakaliki FC for their fine performance in the ongoing President Federation Cup. As newcomers, they’ve made us proud,” Aluo told Newstap.
“Their wins over top teams like Enyimba FC in the Round of 16 and Nasarawa United in the quarter-finals show how strong the NNL is. We’ll keep working hard to give Nigerians a league they can be proud of.
“Just last season, Ikorodu City were in the NNL along with current Federation Cup holders El-Kanemi Warriors. It proves the quality of teams in the NNL.”
