Noah Okafor: Meet red-hot Nigerian-Swiss goal machine who once dreamt of representing Nigeria

His goal Vs Chelsea FC on Wednesday night was his sixth in six consecutive games for RB Salzburg .

Prior to the UEFA Champions League clash vs Chelsea , Okafor came off the bench to score vs Austria Klagenfurt in the domestic league and kickstart this crazy run of form.

Okafor played 66 minutes vs Austria Lustenau and bagged a goal . Scored in a third straight game vs WSG Tirol .

In the UEFA Champions League matchday one game vs AC Milan , Okafor stretched his goalscoring run to four consecutive games before adding a 5th last weekend against SV Ried .

On Wednesday September 14, Raheem Sterling’s curling effort looked like it was going to secure a winning start to Graham Potter’s Chelsea managerial reign until the Nigerian-Swiss free scoring lad struck .

Okafor applied the final touch to Adamu’s cross in the Chelsea box to beat a fully stretched Kepa Arrizabalaga and force a share of the spoils at Stamford Bridge .

Six games in a row. Incredibly prolific run for the 22 year old who once dreamt of representing his fatherland Nigeria at full International level .

In 2018 , Okafor according to a report via SportingLife dreamt of representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the footsteps of his idols Kanu Nwankwo and Jay Jay Okocha , but that never happened until Switzerland knocked on his door.

” Everybody wants to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria especially after watching Kanu Nwankwo and Jay Jay Okocha who are my idols while growing up, ”

” It will surely be a dream come true. I also have a family in Nigeria and they will be happy seeing me represent Nigeria. ” Noah Okafor stated during an interview in February 2018 .

At the time, Noah Okafor was a 17 years old lad testing the waters at Basel so hisĀ  advances did not attract a Super Eagles call-up from then Nigerian National team handler Genot Rohr .

A lot has changed since then. Okafor has played 8 times already for the Switzerland National team and his performances for Austrian giants RB Salzburg should guarantee him a spot on the 2022 FIFA World Cup team with the Swiss.

Born to a Nigerian father and a Swiss mother , Okafor is no longer eligible for the Super Eagles but will rather pursue international success with his country of birth .

They are four other Nigerians on the RB Salzburg player roll at the moment, Karim Adeyemi , Chikwubuike Adam and Bryan Okoh all hold multiple citizenship rights.

Former Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani is also at Salzburg . The youngster is ruled out of the season with Injury sustained in pre-season .
