Not Anelka, Aubameyang, Edu or Toure; as Wenger picks Kanu as his best

Arsene Wenger has snubbed a host of other top players during his Arsenal managerial career to name Nigeria and African legend, Nwankwo Kanu as his best.

The retired manager who helped transformed many footballers to stars and super stars picked Nwankwo Kanu ahead of names like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Anelka, Edu and Kolo Toure when asked about his best January signing.

Nwankwo Kanu who helped Ajax to back-to-back champions league finals in 1995 and 1996, moved from Inter Milan to Arsenal in 1999 for a fee of £4.15 million and he scored 17 goals in his first full season.

Nwankwo Kanu would always be remembered by the Arsenal supporters for his roles as a member of the invincible squad, the 2000 UEFA Cup run and most importantly for his 15 minutes hat-trick against Chelsea.

When asked about his best piece of business in the January window, the Frenchman told beIN Sports: “What a difficult question. Over 20 years… maybe Kanu.

“In the middle of the season, that had a big impact and was a huge player.”

A lot of Arsenal fans might pick either of Andrey Arshavin, Edu, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kolo Toure or Nicolas Anelka but the boss has Nwankwo Kanu as his choice.

Who do you think is the best Arsenal January signing?
