‘Not there yet’ – ABS FC Coach reacts to 5-2 bashing of Abakiliki FC
Coach Sani Sarduana of Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC (ABS) has said that his team is still improving, despite their 5-2 win over Abakiliki FC in the Nigeria National League on December 14, 2024.
The match, played at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin, saw Abakiliki FC take the lead in the 22nd minute. However, ABS quickly responded, with Musa Yakub scoring just one minute later to equalize.
ABS then went on a scoring spree. Jamiu Sa’ad scored in the 25th minute, and Jamiu Onikoko added another goal just two minutes later. In the 60th minute, Jamiu Olamilekan scored a penalty to make it 4-1, and Onikoko completed his brace with another goal in the 72nd minute.
Abakiliki FC scored a consolation goal through Pius Igwe, but it wasn’t enough to make a comeback.
After the match, Sarduana said, “We are still a work in progress. We’re not there yet. To be promoted to the NPFL, we need to improve. We’ve learned from our mistakes, and we will keep working on them. I’m happy with the win, but we can do better.”
