Nwankwo Kanu’s protege Izuogu Chibueze makes impressive start to life in Europe

Izuogu Chibueze, a 19-year-old talent from Enyimba and protégé of Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu, has made an impressive start to his European career, earning a spot in the Moldovan League’s Team of the Week. Chibueze, who joined CSF Spartanii Sportul on loan for the rest of the season, showcased his potential in a goalless draw against Dacia.

In his debut performance, the young midfielder operated as one of the double 8s, completing 92% of his passes. He also created two chances, delivered two key passes, successfully executed three out of four long balls, and made one interception. Although he won just one of six ground duels and failed to complete his only attempted dribble, his all-round performance was enough to earn him league-wide recognition.

Chibueze’s European adventure comes on the back of impressive displays domestically and internationally. Earlier this year, he stood out at the African Games in Ghana, scoring two goals and providing an assist in three matches for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.

In the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Chibueze made headlines last season with a spectacular long-range goal in Enyimba’s 2-1 win over Shooting Stars. Known for his precision from free-kicks and his eye for goal, Chibueze is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Nigerian football.

Nwankwo Kanu, Enyimba’s chairman, personally recruited Chibueze from his Papilo Academy, seeing immense potential in the youngster. Now on loan at Spartanii Sportul, Chibueze has an opportunity to further develop his skills and gain European experience.

The talented midfielder’s ability to deliver under pressure and his strong ball-striking abilities have marked him as a future star. His seamless adaptation to European football will give fans of Enyimba and Nigerian football hope that he can make a lasting impact both at Spartanii Sportul and on the international stage.

With the entire season ahead in Moldova, Chibueze will be looking to build on his strong start and enhance his reputation.
