Changchun Yatai hands Odion Ighalo 567% weekly wage increase

Newly signed Nigeria international striker Odion Ighalo has gotten a huge increase in his weekly wage by 567% following his £2om pounds move from Watford to the Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai.

The 27-year-old who was earning £30k a week while at Watford will now be paid £200k a week, which is 567% pay rise.

Odion Ighalo wasn’t the only one who benefitted from the deal has Watford also received a record fee of £20m which dwarfed the previous fee of £12.5m paid by Derby County for Matej Vydra in August 2016.

Odion Ighalo is also the most expensive Nigerian player beating long-standing John Mikel Obi’s transfer fee.

Ighalo leaves Vicarage Road with a record of 39 goals in 100 appearances after spending two-and-a-half years at the club.

He starred during the Hornets’ return to the Premier League last season as he found the net 17 times but has scored just twice this season.
