Olisa Ndah leaves Orlando Pirates by mutual consent

Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah has left South African Premier Soccer League club Orlando Pirates by mutual consent, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The 28-year-old joined the Buccaneers in 2021 from Nigeria Premier Football League side Akwa United. Although he still had months left on his contract, Ndah asked for an early release.
Confirming the decision, Pirates said: “Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the Club has reached a mutual agreement with defender Olisa Ndah to part ways.”
Ndah was a regular in the heart of Pirates’ defence but his involvement reduced over the past year due to injuries. This led to talks about his future.
Explaining the decision, the club added: “The Nigerian international requested an early release from his contract, a decision that follows careful and respectful discussions between the player and the Club’s management. Central to these conversations was a shared understanding to afford Ndah the opportunity to secure regular game time elsewhere as he enters the next phase of his career.”
Pirates stressed that the separation was friendly. The club said it respected Ndah’s wish for more playing time and appreciated his open discussions with management.
The Soweto-based club also praised his contribution, saying: “Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to thank Olisa for his professionalism, dedication, and service to the Club. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
During his time at Orlando Pirates, Ndah won three MTN 8 Cup titles and made 81 appearances in all competitions, including the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
The former Remo Stars defender, who represented Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, is now looking for a new club before the January transfer window closes.
