Olisa Ndah wins South Africa’s MTN-8 title with Orlando Pirates

Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah helped Orlando Pirates to the South African MTN-8 title with a 1-0 win over Amazulu on Saturday evening.

The former Akwa United FC defender was named in the starting XI for the final match by Pirates head coach Jose Rivéiro.

In the match, Pirates were dealt an early blow as Olisa Ndah’s pair in central defence Sibisi went off injured and was replaced by Mako.

In the 27th minute, Orlando Pirates forward Monnapule Saleng scored with a well taken free-kick to put the BUCS in front.

Amuzulu pushed for an equalizer but with Olisa Ndah and the Pirates defence providing effective cover for goalkepeer Ofori, Orlando Pirates maintained their lead despite pressure to be crowned 2022 MTN-8 Champions at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday November 5, 2022.

The Super Eagles defender and his teammates were crowned MTN-8 Champions for the 11th time in the clubs history.

To reach the final and eventually claim his first piece of silverware in South Africa, Olisa Ndah starred in the BUCS 0-3 aggregate win over Mamelodi Sundowns in October 2022.

Against Amazulu in the final game, Olisa Ndah was a true leader in defence, shouting instructions and organizing the backline as Pirates claimed the MTN8 success in front of a packed crowd at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, in Durban South Africa.
