Real Madrid ‘considering Chelsea target N’Golo Kante instead of Paul Pogba’

Real Madrid have reportedly switched their attention from Paul Pogba to Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Kante is understood to be in high demand this summer following an impressive 2015-16 campaign at the King Power Stadium, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Chelsea also thought to be interested.

Madrid had previously been linked with a bid for Pogba, who is reportedly keen to move to the Bernabeu rather than Manchester United this summer.

However, with United having lodged a £100m bid for the Juventus midfielder, Madrid are now considering the cheaper option of Kante, according to Spanish website ABC.

The report goes on to state that a bid of £21m would trigger Kante’s release clause, making him almost five times less expensive than his compatriot.

The 25-year-old is thought to be keen on a move to Madrid, where he would play under World Cup-winning France talisman Zinedine Zidane.
