Oscar Pistorius’s sentencing for murder from June 13 to June 17

Six-time Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius will be sentenced next month after he was convicted of murder in December.

The South African double amputee was originally convicted of culpable homicide and handed a five-year sentence for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

However, four months ago, the conviction was changed to murder after it was declared that the original trial judge made a “fundamentally flawed” ruling.

Today, High Court judge Aubrey Ledwaba confirmed that sentencing for the new conviction will be heard from June 13 to June 17.

The Paralympian, who faces a minimum of 15 years in prison, made a brief appearance in court today to learn the dates of the sentencing.

Pistorius shot dead his girlfriend when he fired four shots through a toilet door at his home in Pretoria.
