Osimhen Fires Galatasaray to Big Win Over Sivasspor
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored two goals on Saturday to help Galatasaray beat Sivasspor 4-1 at Rams Park in Istanbul.
Osimhen, who started the match despite concerns he might be suspended if he got a yellow card, led the attack for the Turkish Super Lig champions. Coach Okan Buruk decided to stick with his star striker, and the decision paid off.
Galatasaray were favourites to win and showed their strength from the very start. They took the lead in the 9th minute when Lucas Torreira scored from close range after Osimhen’s shot was saved.
Just six minutes later, Osimhen got his first goal. He reacted quickly to a rebound after a shot hit the crossbar and calmly slotted the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Baris Alper Yilmaz added the third goal in the 21st minute before Osimhen scored again in the 31st minute. The Nigerian striker controlled a cross from Roland Sallai and finished neatly from close range, giving Galatasaray a 4-0 lead.
Sivasspor pulled one back just before half-time through Rey Manaj, but it was only a consolation goal.
Osimhen thought he had scored a hat-trick early in the second half, but his goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. He was later substituted in the 70th minute, with Galatasaray already in control of the match.
The game ended 4-1 in favour of Galatasaray.
With his brace, Osimhen now has 33 goals and 8 assists in 37 matches this season—making it 41 goal contributions for the Nigerian forward.
Galatasaray will face rivals Trabzonspor next week, and Osimhen will be looking to continue his fine form.
