Osimhen gets new manager at Napoli
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has a new manager at Italian Serie A club Napoli. This follows the announcement of Rudi Garcia as new Partenopei boss.
The managerial seat at Napoli was vacant following the decision of Luciano Spalleti to leave after leading the club to win the Italian Serie A title.
A brief statement by Napoli on its social media handle on Thursday June 15 announced the appointment of Rudi Garcia who last managed Al Nassr SC in the Saudi Arabia Pro League.
“Aurelio De Laurentiis is pleased to announce that Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli.”
“To him the most sincere welcome and a good luck wish.” Napoli announced.
In his own statement, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis explained he had taken ten days to know Rudi Garcia before deciding to appoint 59-year old who is no first-timer in the Italian Serie A.
“I am pleased to announce that, after having known him for the last 10 days, Mr Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli,”
“To him, the most sincere welcome and a good luck wish.” the President tweeted moments after the club statement.
Meanwhile, Frenchman Rudi Garcia will have as first task the job of convincing Victor Osimhen and other players at the club to stay as interest mounts in the summer transfer window.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is currently in camp with the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers vs Sierra Leone on June 18.
Garcia will get opportunity to speak with the players individually after the International break as he settles into his new Job.
