Osimhen, Lookman, Iwobi on the Bench as Chelle Makes Changes to Super Eagles XI vs Egypt

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made several changes to his starting XI for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) third-place play-off against Egypt.

Key players Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman have been left out of the starting line-up for Saturday’s match.

In their absence, Chelle has handed starting roles to Samuel Chukwueze, Igoh Ogbu and Paul Onuachu.

Stanley Nwabali retains his place in goal. Bruno Onyemaechi and Bright Osayi-Samuel start at left-back and right-back respectively.

In central defence, Igoh Ogbu makes his second start of the tournament, replacing the suspended Calvin Bassey. He will partner Semi Ajayi at the heart of the defence.

In midfield, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru returns to the starting XI for his second appearance of the competition and will line up alongside Raphael Onyedika. Samuel Chukwueze is named further forward to provide creativity and pace.

In attack, Akor Adams will lead the line, supported by Paul Onuachu and Moses Simon, who captains the team.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00pm Nigerian time.

Stanley Nwabali; Bruno Onyemaechi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Igoh Ogbu; Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru; Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams, Moses Simon (C); Paul Onuachu.
