Pogba, brother fight dirty over witchcraft claims

Juventus star subjected to blackmail by French gang

Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba has been at the centre of a messy feud involving his older brother, making headlines in recent days. The 29-year-old former Manchester United star reported to the police that he was being blackmailed by a gang of which his older brother is a member.

Matthias Pogba revealed in an interview that he intended to reveal explosive truths about his younger brother Paul, claiming to have knowledge of his activities and also mentioned that Kylian Mbappe had a stake in the affair. Matthias had been in the news in the past as he revealed in 2020 that his brother wanted out of Manchester United.

The Juventus midfielder reacted immediately, revealing that he had reported the case as blackmail to the police. The 2018 World Cup winner said that he had been blackmailed by a gang of three, including his brother Matthias, in the past few months. The midfielder was visited by this gang several times on French duty, at Manchester United, and at the Juventus training ground. He revealed how he had been threatened with weapons and accused of failing to take care of his friends since making his big break, but shared details of how he helped his friends and was forced to turn one of them away after he stole €200,000 using his credit card.

Paul’s decision to report the matter to the police incensed his brother, and the older Pogba took to Twitter to tweet several messages, including that his younger brother had abandoned him and was guilty of using black magic. He also said that Mbappe had been bewitched by Pogba’s witch doctor on the midfielders instructions.

These statements seem trivial, at best, and represent an already-existing problem among players of African origin. Many times, their family members feel entitled and resort to extortion and blackmail to get as much money as possible from them. Former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor was a victim in the past, too.
