Poor Eagles player ratings from 2-0 embarrassing loss to Barea of Madagascar

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were totally embarrassed in their last AFCON group B game as the suffered a 2-0 to Barea of Madagascar on Sunday.

Already qualified for the next phase of the competition but avoiding defeat would have boosted the teams chances of going far in the tournament.

They capitulated against the debutants who showed more hunger to win the game.

Here is our the Eagles faired against the Barea of Madagascar

4 – Ikechukwu Ezenwa

Ikechukwu Ezenwa didn’t have much to do as he was the tested had no fault in both goals but looked shaky at times.

4- Ola Aina

Was good in both end of the field going forward and defending but his effort couldn’t change the outcome of the game.

3- Chidozie Awaziem

Not comfortable in the right back position, couldn’t cross the ball to save his life.

2- Leon Balogun

Surely a game to forget for the Brighton star, was the guilty one for the first goal scored by Madagascar.

He didn’t look the usual Balogun of Eagles defence was very poor with all he did.

4- William Troost-Ekong

Back in the squad after losing his place to Leon Balogun, he put in a solid display on the day.

Couldn’t stop both goals but fought a good fight.

2- John Ogu

John Ogu only played in the first half of the the game as he was replaced by Wilfred Ndidi in the beginning of the second half.

He gave the back pass that led to the first goal.

3 – Oghenekaro Etebo

Oghenekaro Etebo full of energy, ran his socks out but actually made little or no impact in the game.

2- John Mikel Obi

Captain Mikel was particularly unimpressive on the night before he was subbed off for Alex Iwobi.

The former Chelsea star had a poor game especially in the attacking role, maybe he should be reverted to his natural defensive role.

2- Ahmed Musa

It is surprising how he stayed on the pitch the entire game. Ahmed Musa didn’t help the team in any way. He was very poor, failed to do any reasonable thing in the final third.

Had the chance to equalise for Eagles immediately after going down but failed to convert a chance a player of his caliber should be scoring.

1- Samuel Kalu

He was simply not good, bust diving and looking for favourable calls.

2 – Odion Ighalo

Odion Ighalo was poor, failed to make any reasonable impact on the game. Fluffed his goal scoring chances. Was the complete opposite of what Eagles needed on the day.

3- Wilfred Ndidi

Wilfred Ndidi was subbed on for John Ogu at the start of the second half, was the one who gave the foul and deflected the ball into the back of the net.

Tried to redeem himself after the incident but failed to alter the scoreline. Ran from box to box but the scoreline remaind the same.

3- Alex Iwobi

Came in for Mikel Obi and made an impact instantly, with his run and through balls but still didn’t change the scoreline.
