Presenter removed Over Jérémy Doku Comments
French sports broadcaster France Pierron has been removed from presenting duties by L’Équipe following backlash over comments she made about Belgium star Jérémy Doku attending the birth of his son.
The controversy began after Doku temporarily left Belgium’s World Cup camp to be present for the birth of his first child.
During a television discussion, Pierron criticized the decision and described childbirth as “a disgusting moment.”
She also questioned the role of fathers during childbirth, saying:
“The father is useless. What is he going to do? Cut the umbilical cord?”
The remarks quickly sparked criticism online, with many fans arguing that being present for the birth of a child is one of the most important moments in a parent’s life.
As the backlash grew, L’Équipe distanced itself from the comments and removed Pierron from presenting duties.
Pierron later apologized, saying the comments reflected her personal opinion and expressing regret for any offense caused.
Doku has not publicly responded to the controversy, but prior to the backlash he defended his decision, saying:
“Nobody wants to miss the birth of their first child.”
