Remo Stars eliminated from 2023/2024 CAF Champions League

Remo Stars Sports Club have been eliminated from the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League following a preliminary round penalty shoot-out loss to Medeama FC.

The Sky Blues crawled back into the contest following a 72nd minute own goal by the Medeama goalie to level aggregate score at 1-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday August 26.

Remo Stars pressed for more goals to secure the aggregate lead but that did not happen until the expiration of regulation time.

The 1-0 win by Remo Stars over visiting Medeama FC of Ghana leveled aggregate score at 1-1, following a 1-0 win for the Ghanaians last week Sunday.

Penalty shoot-out was required to settle the tie and Medeama FC emerged victorious 2-3 to reach the CAF Champions League second qualifying round.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede tutored Sky Blues bow out of the competition while Medeama FC will now face Horoya FC in the CAF Champions League second qualifying round.

Nigeria’s other representatives in the CAF Champions League, Enyimba FC also suffered preliminary round elimination after a 3-4 aggregate loss to Al Ahli Benghazi.
