Arsenal are reportedly prepared to join Chelsea in the race to sign highly-rated young Everton defender John Stones.
Stones was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in a summer transfer window which saw the Blues fail on multiple occasions, with their last bid said to be around £30m.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho remains interested, but he will have to fend off interest from Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is also keen according to The Mirror.
The Frenchman is well known for his prudent approach in the transfer market, but the report also states that Wenger is prepared to spend big money if it means capturing the 21-year-old.
He has spent £35m on Alexis Sanchez and a club-record £42.5m on Mesut Ozil since September 2013. Stones, who has seven England caps, is contracted to the Toffees until 2019.
