Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons to Meet in 2025 President Federation Cup Final
Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons have both booked their places in the women’s final of the 2025 President Federation Cup after hard-fought wins in the semi-finals played on Saturday.
Rivers Angels, the nine-time champions, defeated a determined Ibom Angels side 1-0 in a tense match held in Aba. Teen forward Aminat Folorunsho came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 63rd minute, beating Ibom’s goalkeeper Godstime Dickson with a low shot.
The Port Harcourt club, who are also the defending champions, will now face Nasarawa Amazons in the final.
Nasarawa Amazons secured their spot with a solid 2-0 victory over Edo Queens in Ayingba. The Lafia-based team last won the Federation Cup in 2019, with their first triumph coming in 2005. They’ll be looking to stop Rivers Angels from winning back-to-back titles.
With league titles to their name in 2013 and 2017, the Amazons are heading into the final with confidence and experience.
Meanwhile, the men’s final will feature surprise team Abakaliki FC from Ebonyi State taking on NPFL side Kwara United.
Abakaliki FC reached the final after a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win over Ikorodu City, following a goalless draw. The lower division side are aiming to create history with their fairy-tale run.
Kwara United earned their spot in the final after a narrow 1-0 win against Rangers International of Enugu.
The President Federation Cup finals will take place later this month and promise to deliver excitement, passion, and possibly new champions in Nigerian football.
