RS Berkane Arrive Uyo for CAF Champions League Clash with Rivers United

Moroccan side RS Berkane have arrived in Uyo for their CAF Champions League group-stage match against Rivers United scheduled for Friday, 28 November, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

According to a notice signed by AKSFA Liason officer Nsikakabasi Akpan, Berkane’s team landed at Victor Attah International Airport at 4:05pm on Wednesday and were received by officials of Rivers United and the Akwa Ibom State Football Association. The players and officials have since settled into their hotel ahead of the encounter.

RS Berkane, three-time champions of the CAF Confederation Cup, come into the fixture after a 3-0 victory over Zambia’s Power Dynamos in their opening group match. Rivers United, on the other hand, will be hoping to bounce back after losing 3-0 away to Pyramids FC in Cairo last week.

The Moroccan team will hold their mandatory pre-match training at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium at 5pm on Thursday, with the first 15 minutes open to journalists.

CAF has appointed Issa Sy as the centre referee. Djibril Camara will serve as Assistant Referee 1, Nouha Bangoura as Assistant Referee 2, while El Hadji Amadou Sy has been named fourth official. Bakary K. Jammeh from Gambia will act as match commissioner.

Football fans in Uyo are expected to turn out in numbers as Rivers United seek their first win of the group stage.
