Russia Vs Nigeria: Saviour Isaac Gets Super Eagles Debut Boost
Young and talented Rangers FC midfielder Saviour Isaac has received a major boost as Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has added him to the squad for Nigeria’s upcoming friendly match against Russia.
Back in May, Chelle named two separate squads for Nigeria’s participation in the Unity Cup and another for the friendly match against Russia.
Saviour, who watched both matches from the bench during the recent Unity Cup in London, now has a real chance to make his debut. Coach Chelle was said to be impressed by the midfielder’s skills and potential.
According to reports, the Super Eagles have made slight changes to their team after winning the Unity Cup. Nigeria beat Ghana 2–1 in their first match and won the final against Jamaica 5–4 on penalties after a 2–2 draw.
Chelle has now updated the team list for the international friendly against Russia, which will be played on Friday, 6th June 2025, at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. Three players have been added: Saviour Isaac, Ismaila Sodiq, and Sikiru Alimi.
While this, Isaac’s chance of a first international appearance for the senior national team is high.
The Super Eagles team flew to Russia yesterday to begin build-up for the match on Friday.
