Manchester United legend and former coach Ryan Giggs has urged his former club to get a striker this summer.
After watching his former side played out a 1-1 draw against Jose Mourinho’s side at the Tottenham Stadium on Friday, Ryan Giggs said the club still need a top striker.
Presently, Manchester United have four players who could play as a striker, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Odion Ighalo.
Anthony Martial is Ole Gunner Solskjear’s preferred center forward with other options being any of Mason Greenwood or Odion Ighalo as Marcus Rashford prefers to play from the flank.
On Friday, it was Anthony Martial who started the match with Odion Ighalo subbed on in the 78th minute for the French forward.
It was not the best of game for Anthony Martial, Odion Ighalo didn’t get enough time to make impact and Ryan Giggs who was unimpressed by both strikers said Manchester United should prioritise signing a center forward this summer.
‘I would say we definitely need a centre forward,’ said Giggs.
‘A centre forward who, if a team is deep, he’s going to play that centre-forward role.
‘Be on the end of passes, be on the end of crosses, score 20, 25 goals.’
Should Manchester United sign a striker, Odion Ighalo would become a third or fourth choice striker, which would make it difficult for Ole Gunner Solskjaer side turn his current loan deal into a permanent move.
