Sabalenka reaches 400 Wins with Strong Start in Berlin
Aryna Sabalenka began her grass-court season with a straight-sets victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Berlin Open, defeating the Russian 6-4, 6-4.
The win was a significant milestone for the World No. 1, who recorded the 400th tour-level victory of her career.
Sabalenka has already enjoyed another impressive season and the result marked her 32nd win of 2026, but she will be hoping it is also the start of a deep run on grass ahead of Wimbledon.
The victory earned Sabalenka her 400th career win, but it was her post-match answers that had fans laughing.
When a reporter asked about a stretch of points from “3-4 down” in the opening set, Sabalenka quickly corrected him.
“I think I wasn’t 3-4 down, I was 4-3 up.”
After the reporter checked his notes and realized she was right, Sabalenka simply replied:
“Yeah, I was.”
Then came a question involving Roger Federer, and Sabalenka wasn’t buying it.
When an interviewer claimed Federer once told him, “There’s No. 1 and there’s everyone else,” Sabalenka immediately responded:
“I don’t think he said that.”
The victory gives Sabalenka her first grass-court win of the season and another milestone to celebrate as Wimbledon continues to draw closer.
