Samuel Chukwueze Faces Elimination in His Street Football Tournament in Umuahia
Nigerian football star Samuel Chukwueze could see his team crash out early from his own off-season tournament, the Samuel Chukwueze All Stars Champions League 2025, after his side AC Milan were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw against IPOD FC.
The match, played at Ugba Primary School Field in Umuahia North LGA on Thursday, June 19, was packed with goals, tension and moments of brilliance. While the draw was enough for IPOD FC to book their place in the semi-finals with an unbeaten record, it leaves Chukwueze’s AC Milan in a very dangerous position.
AC Milan, led by Chukwueze himself, have now finished their group matches with four points. But their qualification hopes are no longer in their own hands. Their only path to the semi-finals depends on the result of the final Group A game between Ucha FC and already-eliminated Amuzukwu FC.
For AC Milan to stay alive in the competition, Amuzukwu FC who have lost both their games must somehow defeat Ucha FC. A draw or win for Ucha FC, who also have four points with one match to go, will knock Chukwueze’s team out.
In Group B, the drama continued as CAC FC and Isieke FC also drew 2-2, a result that keeps the group wide open. Atuloma FC, CAC FC, and Emirate FC are all tied on three points, with one match each remaining. Isieke FC sit at the bottom with just one point and must win their last match by a big margin to stand any chance of progressing.
Now in its fourth year, the tournament has become one of the most exciting grassroots events in Abia State. It brings young talents together, boosts community pride, and offers a platform for footballers to shine in front of large crowds and online audiences.
At the time of this report, Samuel Chukwueze is currently in Uyo showing support for the Junior Adamu scouting tournament at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
