Shanghai Shenhua open to Odion Ighalo Manchester United stay on one condition
Chinese Super League club, Shanghai Shenhua are reportedly open to Odion Ighalo staying at Manchester United until January 2021 but only if one condition is fulfilled.
Manchester United who looked uninterested in Odion Ighalo beyond May 31st because of the return of Marcus Rashford have made a u-turn after their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær indicated interest in keeping the Nigerian striker until the end of the season.
According to Sky Sports, Shanghai Shenhua who were reluctant in loan extension beyond 31st of May unless Manchester United pay their asking price of about £20m have also made a u-turn.
The club would no longer force the return of their star striker because of border restrictions which may prevent Ighalo from returning to China in time for the start of the new season in June.
If he can’t return, the club will look to bring in a temporary replacement according to the report.
Sky Sports, understands that Shanghai Shenhua will expect Ighalo to sign a new contract with them as a condition of him being allowed to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
Odion Ighalo who has scored four goals in four starts for Manchester United has an offer of £400,000 a week from Shanghai Shenhua waiting on the table to be signed.
The former Granada’s current with the Chinese club ends in December 2022 but they want him to extend until 2024.
