Simy’s brace not enough as Osimhen’s goal helps Napoli in 7-goal thriller win

15 goals, 2 assists in 29 games for Simy

Two Super Eagles strikers were in action in a 7-goal thriller involving Napoli and Crotone in a Serie A game on Saturday.

Victor Osimhen who finished as AFCON 2021 Qualifiers too scorer with 6 goals led Napoli’s charge to securing a top four finish while Simy Nwankwo led Crotone charge of fighting staying in the Serie A.

Lorenzo Insigne opened the scoring for home team at the Diego Armando Marodana Stadium, in the 22nd minutes, 4 minutes after Lorenzo’s goal he assisted as Victor Osimhen made it two for Napoli.

Simy Nwankwo pulled one back in the 25th minute of the game but Dries Mertens restored Napoli 2-goal with his 34th minute strike.

Three minutes after start of second half Simy completed his brace to reduce Crotone deficit to one.

Just 11 minutes after assisting Simy’s goal, Junior Messias equalised for the visitors.

But Giovanni Di Lorenzo scored what proved to be the winner in the 72nd minute,

Simy who now has scored 15 league goals in 29 league games was on the pitch throughout the game.

But Victor Osimhen was taken off in the 90th minute by Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso.
