Sor, Balogun, Dessers on target as Nigerian players score for fun in European Club Competitions

Collins Sor, Cyriel Dessers, and a few other Nigerian players were on target for their clubs during the European Club Competitions played in the midweek.

Sadly, the only Super Eagles player left in the Champions League, Samson Tijani was eliminated after his Austrian side RB Salsberg were trashed 8-2 on aggregate by mighty Bayern Munich.

While there was no Super Eagles player in the UEFA Champions League, there were a few in the second and third-tier European club competitions.

They were heavily involved in the Europa League and Europa Conference League which were played on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

5. Peter Olayinka (Slavia Prague 4-1 LASK)

Peter Olayinka was on target for Slavia Prague as they secured a 4-1 first-leg win against LASK in their Europa Conference League round 16 game.

It was his 2nd goal in 7 European Conference League games. He has a total of 8 goals in 27 games in all competition this season.

Kelechi Ihenacho came off the bench to score in the 93rd minute of Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Rennes in a Europa Conference league clash at King Power Stadium.

Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman were all part of the game.

It was Kelechi Iheanacho’s first goal in three Europa Conference League games.

3. Leon Balogun (Rangers 3-0 FK Crvena Zvezda)

Super Eagles center half, Leon Balogun capped his return into starting lineup with a good goal.

Leon Balogun scored Rangers’ third goal as they eased into a 3-0 first-leg win against Crvena Zvezda in the Europa Conference league round of 16 clash.

Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey were both involved as the Scottish champions took a big first-leg win.

2. Cyriel Dessers (Partizan Beograd 2-5 Feyenoord)

Cyriel Dessers continued his great form scoring and assisting a goal in Feyenoord 5-2 comeback win against Partizan Beograd in a Europa Conference League first leg game on Thursday at Stadion FK Partizan.

He scored his sides’ second goal and assisted the 5th goal.

Cyriel Kolawole Dessers has now scored four goals and assisted one in six games in the UEFA Europa Conference League for Feyenoord.

1. Collins Yira Sor (Slavia Prague 4-1 LASK)

Collins Sor scored two goals to help Slavia Prague secure a 4-1 first-leg win in their Round of 16 Europa Conference League game against LASK on Thursday.

Yira opened the scoring in the 3rd minute of the game and completed his brace in the 29th minute of the game.

Since joining Slavia Prague in January has scored four goals, assisted one goal in three Europa Conference League games.
