Sports Minister John Enoh Addresses Victor Osimhen’s Controversy
Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Enoh, has weighed in on the recent controversy involving Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and his comments about former Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George.
Osimhen’s remarks on social media were deemed disrespectful, prompting a reaction from various quarters.
Enoh disclosed that he instructed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to refrain from making any public statements about the incident until they had engaged with Osimhen directly. Speaking on Eagle7 FM Radio, Enoh emphasized the need for careful management of the situation.
“There has been a plethora of opinions on this,” Enoh said. “Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria, but it was a low. I told the NFF not to make a pronouncement on this before they have engaged Osimhen. This is so especially because these are not the best of times for Nigerian football and we have to manage a lot of things. The NFF have to be focused and not be distracted.”
