Super Falcons cancel training due to heavy rain in Lagos

The Super Falcons of Nigeria were unable to hold their first training session on Tuesday due to heavy rain in Lagos, as they prepare for two international friendly matches against the Algerian senior women’s team.

The team, led by head coach Justine Madugu, had planned to train at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. However, the intense downpour forced the squad to return to Eko Hotel & Towers for gym sessions instead.

All 25 Invited Players in Camp

Speaking about the preparations, Madugu expressed his satisfaction that all 25 invited players had reported to camp.

“I am very happy that all the invited players are here,” he said. “This gives us four full days of training to get into top shape for the first game.”

Madugu also thanked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for arranging the two matches, saying it was a great opportunity for the team to stay active and improve.

Match Schedule and Team Arrivals

The nine-time African champions will face Algeria on Saturday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 29, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Meanwhile, the Algerian delegation, comprising 35 members, is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Thursday via a Qatar Airways flight. Match officials from Benin Republic will also arrive in Lagos on the same day.

The Super Falcons will use the upcoming games to fine-tune their performance as they build towards future competitions.
