Terem Moffi Scores 50th Ligue 1 goal as Nice fall Nantes

OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi reached a milestone by scoring his 50th French League goal in his team’s recent match against relegation-threatened Nantes.

The 24-year-old forward, who joined OGC Nice from F.C. Lorient in January 2023, has been a prolific scorer since his days at Le FCL Les tangos et noirs, where he gained prominence by netting 34 goals in 84 appearances.

Despite joining Nice last year, Moffi has quickly established himself as a key player, scoring 6 goals in his debut season and hitting double digits in the current campaign, tallying 50 goals in just 126 Ligue 1 games.

In the recent match against Nantes, Moffi demonstrated his scoring prowess by converting a penalty, reminiscent of his performance in the AFCON 2023 semi-final against South Africa.

His goal, taken from the penalty spot, marked his 50th goal in the French top flight, a significant achievement for the Nigerian striker.

Despite Moffi’s milestone, OGC Nice suffered a defeat to Nantes, with Antoine Mendy conceding a penalty late in the game, allowing Nantes to secure a 2-1 victory.

The loss resulted in Nice dropping to 5th place in the league standings, trailing Lille by three points and league leaders Paris Saint-Germain by 19 points.

While the defeat was disappointing for Moffi and his teammates, his achievement of reaching 50 Ligue 1 goals highlights his importance to the team and his prowess in front of goal.
