Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern lose value

The list of the top 10 most valuable clubs in Europe was revealed following recent business by the clubs, and Manchester City unsurprisingly emerged on top of the list, closely followed by Chelsea and Paris St. Germain.

With the 2021 summer transfer window nearing its conclusion, a list of the top 10 most valuable European clubs was drawn by Transfermarkt based on the business conducted by the club in recent months as well as their successes on and off the pitch. It did not come as much of a surprise to see that the list was dominated by English Premier League sides, with all of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool appearing among the top 5 most valuable sides in Europe. Here is the list in full;

1. Manchester City: The English Premier League champions are currently valued at €1.06 billion. Their matchday squad for the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur was worth well over a billion dollars following their summer acquisition of English midfielder Jack Grealish for £100 million.

2. Chelsea: UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea has a value of €998 million. The English club are one of the best-run sides in Europe with the way their transfer business is conducted. They also won the 2021 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup. The club has made only one signing so far in the transfer window, a £97.5 million purchase of striker Romelu Lukaku.

3. Paris St Germain: French Ligue 1 champions Parist St Germain surprisingly came out in third place in the top 10 list, with a value of €993.75 million. The club has made major Bosman signings in the summer transfer window, bringing in Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Gianluigi Donnarumma, and also paying €60 million for Moroccan right back Achraf Hakimi.

4. Manchester United: Manchester United came fourth in the top 10 list with a market value of €928.25 million. The Red Devils have brought in the duo of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for a combined £107 million in the summer window.

5. Liverpool: Liverpool are ranked as the fifth most valuable club in Europe with a market value of €904.50 million, representing a drop in the club’s market value. Liverpool has only brought in defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in the transfer window.

6. Bayern Munich: The German Bundesliga champions are ranked sixth in the top 10 most valuable clubs’ list. The German side is valued at €818.50 million. They won the DFL Super Cup at the expense of rivals Borussia Dortmund at the start of the 2021/22 season.

7. Real Madrid: The Spanish giants have suffered a significant drop in their market value. A rocky period has seen their value drop to €778.50 million.
